When it comes to Kenya’s most famous and popular park, the Masai Mara National Reserve, there aren’t enough words to describe its grand place in the natural world – home to Africa’s “Big Five”, the greatest density of big cats, the richest eco-system in the region, and so much more.

Where else will you find untold numbers of wildebeests flooding into the park during the Great Migration? And where but the Mara can you imagine the fantastic array of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, and some 90 other mammals, plus over 400 types of birdlife.

This crown jewel of Kenya’s natural reserves is its most visited park boasting dramatic bursts of wildlife on a bright palette of rolling hills, golden savannah, and distinctive acacia trees framing its unforgettable sunsets. No one who visits the Masai Mara is untouched by its shocking beauty.

This totally immersive safari will give you plenty of time to absorb the Mara’s plains, rivers, and habitats, and the deep variety of animals that populate this ancient land.

Itineraries

Day 1:

Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve

Your driver/guide will pick you up at your hotel, the airport, or the location of your choice. Board your private 4 x 4 Safari Jeep and we’ll head off to the Masai Mara Reserve.

Our route will take us through the Great Rift Valley, complete with dramatic views of the escarpment as we pass local farmlands and communities. We’ll make rest stops along the way and as we proceed to the park, we’ll head down to the Rift Valley floor, entering Masai country.

You may see the local herdsmen tending their flocks just as they have done for hundreds of years.

We’ll arrive at the park and take a break to refresh and enjoy lunch before setting off for our first game drive.

Heading over the great savannahs of the park, you’ll witness its vast stretches of grasslands, home to the greatest concentration of wildlife in the region.

Over the course of your 4-day safari, your driver/guide will share his extensive knowledge of the park and its animals. If you have any requests, please let him know and he’ll be happy to oblige.

As evening floats in you’ll head to your safari lodge or tent camp to relax and enjoy dinner.

Explore Maasai Mara National Reserve

This will be a day of unlimited game drives, starting early so we can catch the wildlife as it steps into the morning light. This is a quiet, cool, and peaceful time to watch the animals’ first stirrings.

The Masa Mara is famous for its diversity and numbers of big cats, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and other large game.

During the season of the Great Migration (July – October) prepare to witness the largest display of herding animals on the planet. You’ll see thousands of wildebeests crossing into the park over the Mara River in an endless flow.

The river is also home to hippos and crocodiles, adding to the splendor and variety of wildlife filling the scene here.

We offer an optional visit to the local Maasai village, should you want to enjoy another aspect of this exceptional reserve. You’ll get to meet the people and learn about their culture, firsthand. Your guide will be happy to arrange the visit for a small fee.
