With over half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population, it’s no surprise that the majority of guests visit Rwanda to track and view our highly endangered cousins. Rwanda is superb for primates in general, including the fun-loving Sykes monkey, the Golden monkey and the boisterous chimpanzee in the Nyungwe Forest.

Gorilla Trekking

Situated in the far northwest corner of Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans) protects the steep rainforested slopes of the magnificent Virungas mountain range. Rare mountain gorillas and golden monkeys reside on the slopes of Rwanda’s Virungas, just a three hour drive from Kigali International Airport. The lush slopes of these volcanoes provide a dramatic natural setting for one of the most thrilling and memorable wildlife experiences – seeing the mountain gorilla in its natural habitat. Roughly half of the world’s wild population of mountain gorillas is resident on the Rwandan slopes of the Virungas

Rwanda is famous for its rolling hills, which makes this country in the heart of Africa an ideal destination for off-the-beaten-track cycling tours. Since 2009 we have been guiding such group tours throughout rural Rwanda in collaboration with local partners.
