Maasai Mara National Reserve has indeed had an increase in its park fees as of October 2023. The Narok County, the body responsible for the protection and conservation of Maasai Mara National Reserve, made the decision to increase the Maasai Mara Park fees for several reasons. The updated Maasai Mara National Reserve fees are to start to take effect from 1st January, going forward.
The updated Maasai Mara Park fees cater for all the different fees that are required to be paid while exploring or visiting Maasai Mara National Reserve on a Kenya safari tour. The newly updated Maasai Mara National Reserve fees are categorized into two, which are from January through June, and July through December. Further, the Maasai Mara Park fees are categorized according to resident status, as well as age, which is adults who are persons above 17 years, while children are persons that are 3 years to 16 only. Persons below 3 years are exempt from Maasai Mara Park fees. Below are the various Maasai Mara National Reserve Fees 2024 going forward, until updated by the Narok County.
Maasai Mara National Reserve Entrance Fees 2024
The Maasai Mara entrance fees 2024 in the months of January to June areas.
- Foreign Non-Resident adults pay $ 100 per person per day, and children pay $ 50 per person per day.
- East African Resident adults pay Ksh. 4,500, and children pay Ksh. 2,000 per person per day.
- Adult Kenyan citizens pay Ksh. 3,000, while children pay Ksh. 1,000, per person per day.
- Adult Narok residents pay Ksh. 2,000K, while children above 10 years pay Ksh. 500, all per person per day.
July – December Maasai Mara National Reserve Entrance Fees 2024
During this time of the year, the Maasai Mara entrance fees double for the adults, as may be seen below.
- Foreign Non-Resident adults pay $200 per person per day, and children pay $50 per person per day.
- East African Resident adults pay Ksh. 4,500, and children pay Ksh. 2,000, per person per day.
- Adult Kenyan citizens pay Ksh. 3,000, while children pay Ksh. 1,000, per person per day.
- Adult Narok residents pay Ksh. 2,000, while children above 10 years pay Ksh. 500, all per person per day.

Maasai Mara National Reserve Vehicle Entry Fees 2024
- Vehicles that have less than 6 seats pay Ksh. 500 per day.
- Vehicles that have 6 – 12 seats pay Ksh. 1,000 per day.
- Vehicles that have 12 – 24 seats pay Ksh. 3,000 per day.
- And Vehicles that have 25 – 44 seats pay Ksh. 4,000 per day.
Masai Mara National Reserve Balloon Services Fees 2024
- Annual balloon operational permits pay Ksh. 300,000.
- Single landing fees are $80 per adult.
- Single landing fees are $35 per child.

Important to Note:
- The new updated Maasai Mara National Reserve Fees come up an update of the 12-hour rule that all park fees are valid for up to 12 hours only. This means that travelers that are staying outside the reserve must pay park entrance fees for every time they enter the park, for even if you pay fees for your day 1 at midday, it will expire after 12 hours, and you are required to pay yet again. For travelers staying inside the reserve, they pay Masai Mara Park fees as per the number of nights they are inside the reserve and are required to be out of the park by 11am, past which they will have to pay new park fees.
- Resident rates are applicable to residents of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi. Visitors are required to present their National IDs or Passports or Work Permits to ascertain one’s resident status.

Maasai Mara National Reserve only accepts cashless payment using either Visa / MasterCard or Mpesa, at all gates of Masai Mara National Reserve gates like Sekenani gate, Talek gate.
